We offer express pick up service for customers at our drive thru
window. Customers who already know what they want to purchase and
have cash to make their payment may use this window.
Sorry, we don't process checks or cards at the express window. If
you want to pay by check or use a card, you must go into the office.
Just like fast food restaurants, making cash purchases at our Drive
Thru - Cash Only Window allows you to stay in your vehicle and avoid
parking and standing in line to pay. You'll get back to work sooner....
Very capable and
highly trained employees perform our loading operation.
All assigned personnel undergo a 2 week training program and must
demonstrate knowledge and skills in all facets of skid steer operation
and safety before they can load you. Most of our staff has several
years
of experience and tens of thousands of loading operations behind
them. We can assure you that your vehicle will be loaded with the
utmost care and safety.
However, accidents can happen and if you are really
worried about your vehicle, we suggest you speak with a staff member
or perhaps bring some protective padding (like a tarp or old blanket)
for the side of your truck. We do load at your risk, but since we
know you are concerned, the current probability for a minor accident
(like a pebble falling out of our bucket and dinging your paint)
is 1 in 350,000. That's 99.9997% in your favor.
Sorry, we do not permit customers to shovel products into bags,
car trunks, vans or any other vehicle at our facility.
Minimum Purchase = 1/2 Cubic Yard
We sell by the 1/2 cubic yard and full cubic yard only - we do not
sell by any other fractions of the cubic yard. Because we are a
bulk supplier, we serve customers needing large volumes of product
so we maintain a minimum sales policy of 1/2 cubic yard. If you
need small amounts, similar products to ours might be available
in bags from a variety of home improvement stores in the area.
Park, Order, Pay
and Get Loaded!
If you have a pickup truck or trailer, you can come into the office,
order and pay for your product, and then we will load you right
up. It only takes a few minutes. Please do not park in the loading
area. Ample parking is available for pickup trucks in front of the
sales office and trailers can park in a designated area along the
side of our driveway.
Most
customers like to pick up materials because it allows them to use
their truck like a wheelbarrow, driving around their yard and spreading
off their truck. If the terrain of your yard allows this, it may
be the way to go. Otherwise, you may be able to schedule a delivery
from us and resort to wheel barrowing it around from a pile we'll
deposit on your driveway.
About Pickup Trucks
You may have heard of quarter-ton, half-ton, one-ton pickup truck
classifications. These are old terms that need some clarification
because there is a lot of misunderstanding about what they mean.
Over the years trucks have become bigger and stronger, and with
today's series of pickups like Ford 150, 250, 350 and GM's 1500,
2500, 3500, the manufacturer's build a different degree of strength
into the frame, springs, suspension, engine, brakes, tires and wheels.
For example, today's "half-ton" pickup truck (the Ford
F150, Chevy Silverado 1500 and Dodge Ram 1500) have payload capacities
in the range of 1,500 to 2,000. That means these trucks could actually
be called three-quarter to one-ton pickups!
The F250, Chevy and Dodge 2500s have payload capacities of between
2,500 and 4,000 pounds (1 1/4 tons and 2 tons respectively) and
the 350s/3500s are rated at 3,500 to over 5,000 pounds (almost 2
to almost 3 tons).
Determining Your Pickup's Actual Payload
The only true way to determine the actual payload is to weigh your
truck empty (with a full tank of gas) and subtract this weight and
the weight of you and any passengers from the stated GVWR (Gross
Vehicle Weight Rating). The GVWR is usually stated on a model tag
stuck on the driver side door or panel. The weight that is left
over is what you can safely carry in the truck.
Just keep in mind that any excess weight over the GVWR is an overload,
which can damage the truck or make operating the truck dangerous.
How much can you carry?
You are probably wondering how many cubic yards you can carry in
your pickup. To help you understand this we have developed the following
chart. We realize it does not cover every kind of vehicle, so if
you can't find your type of truck, come on in and we'll let you
know what you can carry. Remember this is only a guide and if for
some reason we do not think you can safely carry it, we reserve
the right to not load you.

Other Things to Consider during Pick Up
Suitable vehicles
There are many types of vehicles that you may use to pick up and
transport material. However, there is a limitation to what we can
and will load. The vehicle must be loadable by our loader (has a
5' 8"wide bucket). The vehicle must be loadable from the top.
We don't load closed top vans through back doors or pick up trucks
with lids that open less than 90 degrees from the bed. If your vehicle
is not in a condition suitable for carrying the material (rusted
out beds, trailers with wire beds where material will fall through
it, trucks without tail gates) we may not load you. Your safety
and the safety of others on the roadway are extremely important
.
Check tires
Check the pressure and load rating of your tires. If you need air,
we will provide it for you at our maintenance garage and please,
let us know before you are loaded to avoid damage to your tires.
Check for gaps
Make sure any gaps are closed so material doesn't fall out of your
truck or trailer (check for gaps between bed and tailgate or gaps
in floor and sides of trailers).
Delivery
service area
Our delivery service is available to people within approximately
a 15-mile radius of our store in central Gwinnett County. This covers
almost all of Gwinnett County and parts of Hall, Barrow, DeKalb,
Fulton and Walton counties. In some cases longer distance, (out-of-area)
deliveries might be scheduled on an "as-available" basis.
If we can't deliver to you, you might be able to acquire the services
of a third party (independent hauling company). Ask our Sales staff
to provide you with names and phone numbers of third-party truck
drivers how we deliver.
All products (including pallets of stone) are dumped from our single-axle
dump trucks. However, for pallets of stone we do offer a forklift
delivery service for an additional charge. Our trucks need a fairly
flat and level surface to dump. These trucks can tip over if it's
not level. Steep driveways or hills (8 to 10 degrees) may be a problem,
depending on the product delivered. Since our drivers do not hand
unload or allow customers to remove products, please have an alternate
dump location planned if there is any doubt about the dumping situation.
Delivery fee
We do charge a small fee for each and every delivery. These fees
hardly cover our cost and currently range from $38.50 to $100.00
in our normal delivery service area. These fees are subject to change
due the volatility of fuel prices these days and are not negotiable.
Why no free deliveries. Our drivers need to be paid every now and
then; fuel, insurance, licensing, tires and other maintenance items
are not free, so why would anyone expect a free delivery?
Since over 80% of our customers pick stuff up in their own trucks
- we don't think it's good business to increase our product prices
to subsidize free delivery services. Don't be fooled into believing
a free delivery is actually free. All free deliveries are in the
price of the product and you'll realize it if you shop around.
Delivery scheduling
Scheduling a delivery is a fairly easy thing to do. If you know
what you want, you can order it over the phone during business hours.
Although, we always recommend that you come in and examine the product
before you order it. At the time of the order you'll need to give
us all the specifics (who, what, when, where, etc), and you can
pay for it with a credit card over the phone. We will bring your
receipt to you at the time of delivery.
We use a customized computer-aided delivery system that allows orders
to be scheduled in hourly increments. We schedule on a first-come-first-served
basis. We'll give you a two-hour window for the delivery time frame,
and only unforeseen events like mechanical breakdowns, flat tires,
accidents, getting stuck in someone's yard, would alter the schedule.
Since these things rarely happen, you can be assured you'll get
your stuff in the time frame specified. In the past 32,000 deliveries,
we have only missed 3 scheduled delivery times.
Even though we have the capability of doing 45-50 deliveries each
day, many orders are taken weeks ahead of time and the day/time
period you desire may already be assigned to someone else. This
is especially true of prime times like Friday afternoons and Saturday
mornings. Our recommendation is to always try to schedule a delivery
several days in advance.
Delivery restrictions and Truck limitations
For economic reasons we do have a minimum sales order required for
a delivery to be scheduled. Check with our Sales staff.
The capacity of our trucks for Mulch is 20 cubic yards (this will
cover over 2160 square feet at 3 inches thick). But, for heavy stuff
like Sand, Soil, and Gravel the capacity is 8 cubic yards.
We deliver palletized stone on a tandem axle flatbed
truck that removes the stone with a forklift. We can set the stone
in your yard if the conditions are suitable for our machine.
Palletized stone deliveries have a maximum capacity of around 7
pallets or 25,000 lbs of stone.
Due to our very busy delivery schedule we are not able to dump in
multiple locations (distributing the material around your property).
We generally are not able to combine several products on the same
delivery truck unless you do not mind mixing of the products during
our loading or dumping operations.
Please understand that we can't combine loads for 2 customers or
deliver to 2 different locations on the same truck.
We deliver and will dump on your property only. We will not drive
on or trespass on property that is not yours. To do so requires
the written permission of the property owner. Furthermore, we cannot
jeopardize public safety by dumping material in the street or other
public right-of-ways.
Although we take great care during our deliveries, we enter your
property at your request and risk, and we will not be responsible
for any possible damage to driveways, sidewalks, overhanging trees
or other obstacles that may be present.
If we have agreed to dump material in your driveway and have an
adequate description of the location, you do not need to be present
at the time of delivery.
Off-driveway dumping requests
If you request a delivery off the driveway you must tell our staff
at the time you schedule your delivery, and you must also be present
at the time the delivery is made. Since over 99.98% of our deliveries
are done during the agreed upon time frame (generally a 2-hour window)
you'll just have to be there during that period. During this period
you must be prepared to receive the delivery and sign a damage waiver.
Our 25,999 lb. GVWR dump trucks run on street tires and unfortunately
cannot get to places some might think possible. Because our drivers
know the truck and its capabilities, they will evaluate the conditions
and make the final decision about whether driving in your yard can
be done. Please have an alternative dump location planned just in
case they are not able to get where you would like them to go.
Fence gate openings must be a minimum 10-feet for our trucks to
safely pass through. Also keep in mind that our trucks have a fairly
large turning radius and may not be able to negotiate tight turns
in your yard or driveway.
